Library And Reading Room

      The Government of Karnataka in its Gazette Part-IV-2B Chapter III in clause(t) said any other matter for which in the opinion of the Board, it is expedient and incidental to make provision with a view to develop and maintain the Kudalasangam Kshetra as a cultural centre place of Pilgrimage and an International tourist centre and a centre for deliberation and propagation of the tenets of Lord Shri Sangameshwara and Shri Basaveshwara and to propogate Basava Dharma, Vachan sahitya not only of  Lord Shri  Basaveshwara but also of his contemporaries and disciples ; and to protect and develop  other places of importance  connect with the life and Sharana of Lord Shri  Basaveshwara his contemporaries and his disciples and for the establishment of an educational and reaserch centre for Basava studies.

      Further shri Vishwanath Reddy Mudnal Committee appointed by the Government of Karnataka stated in its report  article  7.9(D) recommended for Library and Reading room.

 

      According to the above the Library Committee Meeting was held at Kudalasangam on 12-09-2001 under the Presidentship of Shri S S pattanshetti,KAS, General Manager, R&R UKP Navangar, Bagalkot. The Committee resolved to commence the Library activities. The necessary steps be taken to purchase Books, Periodicals, Reference Books, Furniture’s, equipments and stationeries etc.

      Accordingly the Library as “Library of Sharana Literature and Research Centre”   starts functioning at Kudalasangam on 01-11-2001.
